About Concord Hospital's Haematology Clinical Research Unit

The Clinical Research Unit at Concord Repatriation General Hospital’s Department of Haematology was established in 2005. It is part of Concord Cancer Centre and is now one of the largest, most rapidly growing, Clinical Trials Units in Australia – and the largest clinical research unit for blood cancers in NSW.

The team

Our team, led by the Director of the Clinical Research Unit, A/Prof Nicole Wong Doo and the Manager , Ms Jennifer Harman, includes ten haematologists, four research fellows, four ethics and regulatory staff, ten research co-ordinators, and five research nurses, along with the entire department’s laboratory, nursing, pharmacy and clerical staff behind us.

We conduct world-leading, patient-centered clinical trials to access and develop innovative therapies to treat patients with Leukaemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma and other blood disorders – cutting-edge research which evaluates the safety and benefits of new medicines.

Myhodgkin Myhealth App Launched

A/Prof Nicole Wong Doo and Prof Judith Trotman, haematologists at Concord Hospital who are passionate about improving the quality of life for lymphoma patients, have announced the launch of the MyHodgkin MyHealth App.

Through Myhodgkin Myhealth, their goal is to research the long-term health of Hodgkin lymphoma survivors from the patients’ own perspective and use this data to shape and improve Hodgkin therapy.

Myhodgkin Myhealth is an Australian-led research project designed to allow patients to self-enter their own vital data on their Hodgkin lymphoma treatment and the medical issues they face following therapy, including fertility challenges, nerve damage and heart and lung issues. This information will contribute to the development and implementation of future therapies for Hodgkin Lymphoma, ensuring the patients’ experiences are heard and listened to.

The Myhodgkin Myhealth research project has been designed as a mobile app, available at Apple and Google Play stores to allow Hodgkin survivors to participate whether at the hospital or clinic or at home.
